The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.7 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people. The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization for Catholic Men like Yourself, based on the principles of "Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. The primary objective of the Knights of Columbus is to promote "Christian Family Values" through active sponsorship and participation in "Church, Civic, and Youth activities throughout our community". We provide peace of mind and security through our voluntary K of C Insurance Program. As a member of the Knights of Columbus you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of the Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits. You will meet and work with other men & their families of St. John with the same goals. Help support your priest, Church, Religion and community. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus. For information concerning membership or transfers, please contact: Grand Knight Dave Russell @ 517-545-0020 or Deputy Grand Knight Bill Driscoll @ 810-220-7883. Also, you can stop at the Parish office and they will help you..
The Knights of Columbus is an all men's fraternal organization, but without the help an support of our Ladies, there wouldn't be a K of C. The Ladies allow the men to attend meetings and other functions by themselves while they stay at home and take care of the families. At breakfasts and dinners, they can be found helping to cook, clean, set up tables, or whatever else needs to be done. At St. John K of C Council 8169, we couldn't do it without them and we thank them for their support. Under the guidance of Christian Brother Barnabas McDonald (1865-1929), the first Columbian Squires circle was instituted in 1925. Membership in the Squires is for Catholic boys between the ages of 12 and 17. Squires' activities are many, varying from spiritual to active service for the Church and community. Each circle elects officer members from their own rank, teaching skills of leadership and responsibility. We have no Squires Group at St. John. |
